I feel bad for Adam Sandler this is a career defining performance for him but he is going to have a tough time winning a best actor oscar in the same category as Joaquin Phoenix as Joker and Adam Driver in Marriage Story. Sandler got snubbed at the Golden Globes with no nomination. This movie is like the polar opposite of Matthew McConaugheys Dallas Buyers Club but in a good way. Sandler gained weight like pure fat for his role as a middle age Jewish Jeweler who is also a gambling addict. There is even a scene with a bathroom scale where he clearly informs the audience of it.
