I am married with five children, all grown. I love working with kids and dogs and have spent most of my life doing just that. My husband and I were 4-H leaders, teaching dog care, and training to children from six to eighteen years old. We did that for about fifteen years. During that time we also had a small farm. I guess it was what would have been called a "Hobby Farm". We didn't sell anything we just raised stuff, mostly animals. There were six dogs, two cats, twenty-eight chickens, seven ducks, and eight or so rabbits. For 4-H reasons we also had three Romney sheep. FHA brought into our menagerie two pigs, and a baby calf that we called "Moo". We had another change of residence at which time all the farm animals went except the ones our daughter Mary needed for FFA. The girls decided they wanted horses. I too had always wanted a horse so horses became the next chapter of our life. Our youngest ( technically our granddaughter ) started showing her horse. in 4_H so we became weekend warriors traveling from show to show with her and her horse. I would help her get everything loaded in the truck and horse trailer Friday night and she and I would be up at five A.M. to hit the road. Steve, my husband, would get off work at six A.M. and meet us at the show. We bought him a special folding lawn chair with a headrest and a footrest so that he could lay back and get some sleep between shows. Our days of raising the children came to an end numerous years ago and we went back to dogs. Dogs have always been our favorite. We have been Dog Foster Parents for about ten years now and have fostered over twenty-some dogs through the years. I am now on a hiatus due to health issues and don't know if I will be able to return to fostering. My husband and I took up a new past time a couple of years ago. We got back into music which is something we always wanted to do. We have a small group that joins us at our home for practice every Saturday evening. Actually, anyone can join us, if they have a yearning to sing country and/or play a musical instrument. It's always a lot of fun and something we are really enjoying. I think the next chapter of our life will include some traveling, motorhome style. We bought a smaller, older one, along with a tow dolly and a red, convertible, Mini Cooper. Of course that was the first of January 2020 and the "Viris" has had a hold of this country, and all others too, so everyone has been on quarantine since the end of January. If it ever ends, we will travel. In addition, I like to sew, paint, do crafts, and jewelry design. I also love to go camping, do gardening., go to the ocean and I love having my grandsons live right next door so we see them often. Our oldest daughter and granddaughter live four hours away so we don't get to see them much. Two live five hours in another direction so we don't see them a lot either, one about an hour away and one lives next door with her family. Taking care of our home keeps us plenty busy along with practicing our music. We love doing what we do and plan to continue for a long, long time I started writing at a young age but threw it all away because I didn't think it was anything that anyone would be interested in what I wrote. I picked up a few years back when I finally decided it was something I wanted to continue. Up to date, I have had a few of my poems published in the local town paper but that is as far as I've taken it. I'm hoping, as I start up one more time here that Wordpress will help me learn to articulate my words better, maybe write a book even.
