Dr. Noel O’Connell is a writer, autoethnographer and researcher on deaf education (sociology). Dr. O’Connell’s research interest include autoethnography, deaf education, deaf people’s life stories, identity politics, ethnodrama, literature, sociology, deaf studies and disability studies. A frequent guest presenter, he has given presentations and workshops and participated in conferences on deaf education, history and qualitative research methods, and literary festivals around the world. Dr. O’Connell graduated with doctoral degree in education (Sociology) at Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, Ireland. He holds a BA in English Literature, MSc in Literature & Cultural Politics, and MPhil in Deaf Studies (Social Science). A Deaf scholar, he investigated deaf education in Ireland through a critical auto-ethnographic study of deaf people’s lived understandings and experiences of education, society, culture and languages.
