Jason Barakat

For over 25 years, Jason Barakat has dedicated his career to serving as a financial services leader, entrepreneur, visionary, and philanthropist. His professional journey spans financial, insurance, legal, and nonprofit sectors, where he has guided organizations through growth and transformation while ensuring that communities also benefit. His story reflects a balance between building business success and advancing social good. Jason has built a strong record in both talent development and strategic partnerships. Over his career, he has managed more than a thousand advisors and 60 leaders across Canada, mentoring and supporting their professional growth. He has also been instrumental in creating more than 200 business partnerships with associations, groups, and government institutions. These partnerships were designed to provide specialized, value-driven financial services, making them accessible to families, professionals, and organizations alike. Jason has also demonstrated the ability to bridge the finance, law, technology, and philanthropy sectors. Whether launching startups, growing multi-million-dollar platforms, or supporting charitable initiatives, Jason has continued to focus on creating systems that endure and serve communities for the long term. In 2022, Ghassan founded Nolos Cabinet Multidisciplinaire Inc., where he continues to serve as Founder & CEO. Nolos was created as a Canadian company integrating FinTech, InsurTech, and LegalTech under one platform. Its purpose is to democratize middle-class families' access to financial and legal services. The platform brings together a Quebec-based legal firm, a notarial study, and a national financial MGA distributing protection and wealth solutions from Canada’s top financial institutions. Under Jason’s leadership, Nolos has grown through acquisitions and partnerships. These included the acquisition of Skylegal in 2022, followed in 2023 by creating a charitable foundation focused on expanding access to justice and financial protection for families during estate and legacy planning. Recently, Jason also acquired a technology firm that develops specialized software for public and private institutions, strengthening the B2B dimension of the Nolos platform. Earlier in his career, Jason Barakat was a Strategic Senior Consultant, completing mandates with Chubb Insurance and other major institutions. From 2003 to 2021, he served as President and Principal Officer with AMF of La Capitale Services Conseils. During his tenure, he expanded assets under management from $300 million to over $3 billion and built financial services designed for Quebec’s public sector employees. In 2017, he became President of La Capitale Financial Security, a national firm specializing in disability and personal finance solutions. He modernized compensation structures, expanded operations, and emphasized inclusion and advisory excellence. He also served as President of SSQ Financial Group Distribution, guiding retirement planning modernization, supporting post-merger integration, and improving compliance, client service, and profitability. Philanthropy has been a central part of Jason’s life for over two decades. He has supported initiatives such as the Guignolet de Saint-Vincent de Paul and contributed to charitable projects connected to education and retirement planning. In 2021, he partnered with Peartree Canada to help families and organizations strengthen their social impact through philanthropic planning. Later, he founded the Nolos Foundation, which is dedicated to advancing access to Justice & Family Legacy Planning. He also continues volunteering as a nonprofit board leader and participates in interfaith humanitarian initiatives. Ghassan studied at Concordia University John Molson School of Business, where he specialized in finance, business law, and theology. He has also pursued studies in securities, investments, estate planning, insurance, venture capital, and strategic philanthropy, earning certifications across these fields. Beyond his career, Ghassan Barakat is a devoted husband and father of two. His family inspires him daily and strengthens his values of love, faith, and responsibility, which guide his decisions in work and life.
