Carolivia Herron is an author and educator living in Washington, DC. Her publications include Let Freedom Sing: The Story of Marian Anderson, Always An Olivia, Little Georgia and the Apples, Nappy Hair, Thereafter Johnnie and an edition of the works of Angelina Weld Grimké. She has held professorial appointments at Harvard University, Mt. Holyoke College, Chico State University and the College of William and Mary. She received a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory from the University of Pennsylvania, and is currently Distinguished Project Humanities Visiting Scholar at Arizona State University. She is an African American Jew, a member of Tifereth Israel Congregation in Washington, DC, and works closely with Jews of Color in Africa, Israel and the United States. Her publishing company, EpicCenter Stories, has published books by Jewish authors of Ethiopia (Beta Israel), Zimbabwe (Lemba), and Nigeria (Igbo).
