Barasa Daniel (also known as Daniel Barasa – Ντάνιελ Μπαράσα)

Barasa Daniel is a Ugandan-born long-distance runner, social entrepreneur, and sustainability advocate working at the intersection of community development, intercultural dialogue, and climate action. Based in Cyprus since 2017, he is an EU Climate Pact Ambassador and an alumnus of the United Nations Youth Champions for Peace and Environment Programme (2022), contributing to international conversations on sustainability, youth leadership, and inclusive societies. Daniel holds a BSc in Food Science and Technology from the Cyprus University of Technology and an MSc in Green and Digital Management from the University of Limassol, with an academic focus on green transformation, circular economy strategies, and sustainable organizational leadership. He is the founder and director of the Running-Fluent Initiative, a Cyprus-based social impact enterprise and intercultural community platform, as well as the founder of the Evzin Athletics Club Uganda and Elite Racers Foundation Uganda. Through these initiatives, Daniel leads programs that promote sport-for-development, migrant integration, youth empowerment, and sustainability awareness across diverse communities in Europe and Africa. His work has received several social contribution recognitions and has led to his involvement in civic and policy platforms, including participation in the Intercultural Council of Limassol and the Lemesos2030 Trajectories working group, as well as collaboration with European youth and climate networks. Driven by the belief that strong communities are built through dialogue, collaboration, and shared responsibility, Daniel continues to mobilize young people, migrants, and local citizens to advance inclusive participation, environmental stewardship, and resilient communities.
